The Great Kapatid Shuffle: Predicting the TV5 2026 Premiere Slate

Since the year began, the historic TV5 and ABS-CBN partnership has officially ended, leaving a significant gap in the "Kapatid" network's lineup.

TV5 stands at a crossroads with a new slate of original shows, Wattpad adaptations, and high-stakes reality reboots—not all announced at their Trade Event last November, but fans speculate about some on social media.

When will these shows air? Between Jan. 12 and Jan. 18, we surveyed audiences on 12 highly anticipated titles. The results show cautious optimism, some long-term plans, and one notable absence fueling industry buzz.

The Wilyonaryo Exclusion: Why Willie’s Gamble Stayed Offline

Before predicting the premiere, let's address the elephant in the room: Wilyonaryo. Despite the hype around Willie Revillame’s return to TV5, his show did not air on free-to-air channels. It was launched online just last Sunday.

The reason? The game's nature. Unlike the traditional variety show format, it employs a raffle mechanic requiring ticket purchases—about P20 per bet, similar to PCSO Lotto. Under current regulations, the MTRCB and TV5’s new leadership are concerned about broadcasting a platform that essentially functions as gambling on free TV.

For TV5, it's a missed revenue opportunity, but a societal relief. Before the ongoing flood control scandal, online gambling was the primary issue. Let’s not forget the viral rehearsal from over a month ago, showing Willie’s behavior is beyond redemption (look at his acts two decades on since Wowowee) and unsuitable for mainstream FTA TV.

As a result, Wilyonaryo launches digitally on its website—and potentially Cignal TV—leaving a prime-time slot open for the shows listed below.

The 2026 Premiere Forecast: Survey Analysis

Based on the responses from our recent survey, here is how viewers see the TV5 calendar unfolding.

1. The Early Birds: February and March 2026

Viewers are most confident that romance and family dramas will lead in the first quarter.
  • A Secret in Prague: Featuring Enrique Gil and Andrea Brillantes, it’s the top contender for a February launch (40% of votes). As a high-budget romance-thriller filmed abroad, it’s seen as the ideal "prestige" replacement for exiting Kapamilya dramas.
  • My Bespren Emman: Predicted to premiere in March with 40% support, it aims to bridge the post-holiday lull and summer season.

2. The Mid-Year Blockbusters: April to August 2026

The middle of the year appears to be when TV5 will deploy its "heavy hitters"—the adaptations and the epics.
  • The Kingdom: Magkabilang Mundo: A staggering 60% of respondents expect this epic—an expansion of the 2024 MMFF hit—to premiere between May and August, making it the network’s flagship tentpole.
  • The Good Doctor (PH Adaptation): Starring Iñigo Pascual, the local version of the Korean hit is scheduled for April release (40%).  And TV5 is no stranger to such adaptation -- remember The Baker King?
  • Project Loki: Fans anticipate a May-August debut (40%), though 20% believe it could premiere as early as February.

The "Long Game" and the Shelved Suspects

Not every show is expected to hit the ground running. Our survey revealed a significant number of titles that fans believe are still deep in the production oven—or perhaps stuck in development hell.

The 2027 Waiting List

For several titles, the consensus is that we shouldn't hold our breath for a 2026 release.
  • Hello, Heaven!: A resounding 60% believe this won't premiere until 2027.
  • I Sayaw Mo & Magic Boys: Both shows saw a 40% tie between a late 2026 and a 2027 release. It seems the "youth-oriented" and "reality-dance" genres are currently taking a backseat to heavy drama.
  • TikTalks (Season 3): Despite being a returning franchise and with Ruffa Mae Quinto, 40% of fans expect the talk show to wait until next year.

The Case of "I Love You Since 1892"

Perhaps the most controversial point is the adaptation of the hit historical novel-turned Viva One series, I Love You Since 1892. While 40% expect the TV broadcast and Kapatid Livestream premiere in 2027, 20% believe it won’t happen. The intricate period drama and shifting casting rumors—Heaven Peralejo and Jerome Ponce replacing the original MarNella—have fueled fan skepticism.

The Reality Vacuum

With Wilyonaryo now online and the new iteration of Artista Academy forecasts scattered (20% for Feb, Mar, April, May-Aug, and 2027, respectively), TV5’s reality TV plan remains uncertain. This split in the Artista Academy data indicates that the public is unclear about the show's production status despite the auditions.

Conclusion: A Year of Reinvention

TV5 is aiming to reclaim its identity with pressure from fantards of South Triangle. The "Guessing Game" of these premieres isn’t just about dates; it's about whether the network can retain an audience without Batang Quiapo.

Losing Wilyonaryo to the digital space hurts the traditional variety block. However, strong anticipation for The Kingdom and The Good Doctor indicates the Kapatid network is successfully shifting toward "Premium Pinoy Content.

State of Metro Manila's Airwaves 2025: Beyond the Ratings

Metro Manila's radio scene is a vibrant, chaotic mix of sounds. It's not just the number of stations but fierce competition and diverse programming that create the noise. While ratings agencies like Kantar and Nielsen provide valuable insights into listening habits, exploring direct consumer sentiment offers a crucial perspective. What do listeners truly prefer when choosing just a few favorites? This question was sparked by a simple moment in my younger sister's car. Her dashboard presets cap at six stations, prompting a thought: What if listeners had to constantly choose which stations to keep or drop in every possible combination, assuming equal transmission power? Which would emerge as the ultimate survivors? That's exactly how my MaxDiff (Maximum Difference Scaling) survey was created. What is MaxDiff and Why Use It? Traditional polls often miss true preferences. Asking "Which is your favorite radio station?" yields superficial answers, ignoring real ...

Hits and Misses: 37th PMPC Star Awards for TV

WHEW.  The PMPC Star Awards for Television have been awarded. It’s that time when stars dress to the nines, networks rally behind their shows, and online fans on Facebook and Twitter show support for their idols.  Here, we just want to see if our predictions come true. (Don't worry, there's no real money involved in this patch, unlike those online gambling/casino sites that are sadly sponsored for the recent event.)  Honestly, making guesses beforehand is half the fun, but as I’ve learned over the years, the results can humble you. This catch-up edition's awards did exactly that. Some of their bets paid off, but others… well, let’s just say PMPC has a way of surprising us. So let’s sit down and go through the categories. I’ll share how the predictions stacked up, what truly happened, and my personal thoughts as I watched the results unfold. The Predictions vs. The Reality Here’s a breakdown of who won last Sunday and how accurate the predictions were. Program Winners BES...

The Grand Shakeup: FAMAS Broadcast Arts Awards End the ‘Press Club’ Monopoly

FOR DECADES , Philippine entertainment was controlled by gatekeeping, with success tied to playing by the "Press Clubs" or private organizations' rules for TV awards.  But last week, FAMAS—the country’s oldest and most prestigious award body—decided to stop watching from the sidelines. The inaugural FAMAS Broadcast Arts Awards , set for May 4 at Manila Hotel, is more than a new event date. It's a deliberate move to challenge the "antiquated mindset" that has caused Philippine TV awards to fall into favoritism, network bias, and irrelevance. The PMPC Problem: A Legacy of Favoritism To understand why the FAMAS expansion is crucial, we must confront the elephant in the room: the PMPC Star Awards for TV. Since 1987, the Philippine Movie Press Club (PMPC) has held a near-monopoly on recognizing television excellence. However, longevity does not always equate to integrity. The Star Awards have long been marred by whispers—and often shouts—of network favoritism. T...
